New Olympic event for women

Check it out: the International Canoe Federation has just added a women's k1 200m event to the Olympic programme, starting in 2012!

Its nice they are finally adding more womens events - give more women a chance to compete in canoe kayak! It will be interesting to see how the switch for men from 500m to 200m will play out - no doubt there will be some new faces cropping up with the completely different style of races in sub 30 sec 200m blast versus ~3:45 1000m or ~1:40 500m - thanks for sharing that news!

it probably also means you won't likely be seeing any back to back golds like Greg Barton had in the 500m and 1000m since the 200m will be a completely different beast all together from the 1000m

If someone pulled that off that would be nothing less than a miracle.
