Amped up on skiing

Make that 2 gold medals. And then a third.

And a bronze. And a silver. (That race was an unreal sprint finish)

And let's not forget Team USA's heroes, the Nordic Combined team, who earned two silvers and a gold.

What a great time to be an American cross-country skier!!

Don't take yourself too seriously

My heroine wins gold!!

In high school, I was [nordic] ski racing just as much as I was kayak racing and I had dreams of skiing collegiately and beyond. I followed the competition scene; Norway was my favorite, and in particular I liked Marit Bjørgen. No, let me correct myself, I didn't just like her; I wanted to be her. I idolized her because she always won. I idolized her because she was ridiculously fit. And I idolized the look that she achieved with her badass eyebrow ring: rebellious, yet gorgeous.

So the decision to get mine done back in 2006 to match was an easy one, though admittedly weird to explain. ("Yes, that's right. I want to be her.")

Today, she won an Olympic gold medal.

I plan to continue to copy her.

New Video

I've been absent on my blog for a few weeks, fighting some health battles. While getting that sorted out, I'm making videos, reading books, and trying my best to stay optimistic. I'm making some really cool shelves for my bedroom to house all the new books I'm reading: Atonement, My Antonia, Oh! Pioneers, and the Twilight series. (Twilight, in my opinion, happens to be the best therapy for bedridden athletes. I'm in love.)

Below is one of the training videos I've made.
