World Cup Team Trials 2011

Hello, blog, remember me? Training has been less-than-stellar lately, and I decided to follow the old adage that if you don't have anything nice to type on the internet, don't type anything at all.

This past weekend was the US team trials in Chula Vista, in which we raced for spots on the World Cup Team. I exceeded my expectations for the weekend by placing 10th in the k1 500m (with the 7th fastest time overall) and 9th in the 200m. Although my speed is not yet back to where it was before my 2010 hiatus, I'm happy with my progress this spring. An additional perk of the weekend was placing 3rd in the k2 with Emily Mickle. It was fun to get in the boat together for the first time since 2009 [when we raced World Championships.]

I am headed home next week for a block of training in May. The rest of the summer's plans should shake out within the next couple of days.
