This is Holly, my good friend and training partner in Rochester.
Several months after running the Boston marathon this year (where the above picture was taken), she began toying with the idea of running not just for herself but also for others. Shortly thereafter, she found out about Camp Erin, which is a bereavement camp for children and teenagers. The camp is a safe place where children can go to learn how to grieve, and to feel some relief from the weight of overwhelming sadness that comes with the loss of a loved one. The idea really hit home for Holly because her father passed away three years ago when she was 26 and her little sister was just 12.
Holly has committed to run the 2011 Boston marathon for Camp Erin. Her goal is to raise $5,000 and to get a new PR (under 3:15) I know she'll be successful, because not only is she a great runner, but she has a real connection to this cause. Please visit Holly's page to learn more.
